Application deadline for 2009 All-OMEA Band:  September 26, 2008.  
Second (fee penalty) deadline:  October 3.
After this date the "Emergency" penalty is in force.  Contact Chair for information.

First Round (regions) auditions for 2009 All-OMEA Band: November 8
Second Round (state) auditions for All-OMEa Band: December 6
Alternate date for bad weather (by order of OMEA President only): December 20.  (Choice of date is NOT an option for students or teachers.  All 2nd round students MUST audition on the designated day.)


All-OMEA Band Update

As you know, it is already time to start preparing our students for another round of all-state auditions. Here is some new information you need to be aware of:
      The Alto Clarinet will not be a part of the all-state band next year as decided by our membership at the January Board meeting.  You may now safely hide this instrument somewhere in a locked part of your bandroom.
     The Bass Trombone will not be a part of the all-state band this year due to a severe lack of students auditioning.  This was also decided at the January board meeting.
     There was much discussion regarding the potential of re–auditioning students after they have made the All–OMEA Band.  Auditions would potentially occur at the clinic, with the hope that students would arrive better prepared to play the concert literature.  This WILL NOT occur next year, however a committee is being formed to work out the logistics and to present a plan at next year’s board meeting.  Please contact our band vice president, Tim Brandt, if you wish to provide input or be a part of this process.
Though it is some time away, please ensure you take care of the following when it comes time to turn in your all-OMEA forms next year:
     Auditions fees are still $15 per student.  A student auditioning on more than one instrument will pay $15 for the first entry and $7.50 for each additional entry.  Please send a check or completed PO with you fees.  Do NOT send cash.
      Please take the time to fill out the entire form including all contact information.  It is important that we be able to reach you with questions or clarifications, ESPECIALLY during the day of final auditions.
     Please include all directors from your school on the form along with their principal instruments and contact numbers.  It is an extremely difficult process to secure judges for the final round at Westmoore, and this information is vitally important to help ensure a fair audition for your students.
