Oklahoma MEA has only one audition for both the Mixed and Women's Choruses. Every interested student will audition for the mixed chorus, and the committee will place the singers after the final–round audition.

As you look back on the 2011 All-State Chorus weekend, I’m sure you find yourself as much in awe as I do. What a fantastic experience for everyone, but especially for our students, who benefitted so greatly from the wisdom, talent and outstanding musicianship of this year’s clinician, Rick Weymuth.
A tremendous “thank you” goes to Anne Dawson for coordinating such a spectacular All-State weekend. Anne has an incredible ability to organize and that was so obvious throughout the All-State process from auditions to the final concert. Thank you, Anne! You deserve, at the very least, a standing ovation. Also, a huge “thank you” goes to Ron Wallace for another flawless accompanying job.
The 2012 OMEA Mixed Chorus Committee members include Tracy Watson (Chair), Anne Dawson (Past-Chair) and Paula Kiner (2013 Chair).
I am super excited that the 2012 Mixed Chorus Clinician will be Dr. Mark Sumner. Sumner is a former OMEA All-State singer (just a few years ago) and among his former high school teaching positions, Sumner was the vocal music director at Sapulpa High School for eight years. He has been the Director of Choral Ensembles at the University of California-Berkeley for the past fourteen years, where he oversees nine diverse performing ensembles. I know him to be an outstanding musician, teacher and conductor and hope you will join me in welcoming Mark Sumner back “home.” Tracy Watson
